we are all bouncing all over the place. i remember there being dust everywhere into we're hearing more about the deadly crash in san francisco. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. today, ntsb investigators hope to finish interviewing all four of the pilots from asiana

flight 214. with continuing coverage on the crash, alex savidge is live with more. >> reporter: right now federal investigators are questioning the pilot at the controls of that boeing triple 7 on saturday trying to get a sense of exactly what he was doing in those final moments. that interview should be completed later today. the interviews with all four of those crew members should offer insight into why this plane was flying far too low to make a safe landing. the ntsb will hold a news conference to update the investigation. this as investigators here at the crash site continue to document the plane's wreckage. the first time the crew realized there was trouble, it was seven minutes before impact. much too late. ntsb investigators are questioning the pilots why they

didn't react sooner. >> they worked together as a crew. we want to understand how that responsibility was broken down, how they were communicating with one another and what they knew, what they knew about coming into san francisco, what they knew about the airplane and its systems. >> reporter: the pilot at the controls identified as lee gang- guk had minimal experience flying a 777. this was a training flight. at the time of the crash, the plane's auto pilot system was turned off. but there's also something called the auto throttle system. if it was engaged, it would automatically maintain a safe air speed. >> right now, we have to determine if it was on or off. it can work safely both ways. >> reporter: meantime, the ntsb is facing criticism from the airline pits' association. the union believes too much detailed information from flight data recorders has been released public. they put out a statement a that

said this premature release of information is often taken out of context and creates the information that the ntsb has already determined probable cause. meanwhile, passengers are continuing to describe what they went through. one bay area family was returning from a trip to south korea. >> after everything stopped, i realized i was alive. and i looked over to my mother and my sister and they were fine. my dad and brother were on the floor because their seats fell down. >> reporter: the two passengers were teenaged girls from china. the but authorities are continuing to investigate whether one of those girls was run over by an emergency vehicle cre sponding to the crash. the san mateo county coroner

said it could be another week or two before her cause of death is determined. he will be doing a broad inquiry in that case, reviewing reports from all of the first responders. the wreckage of 214 could be cleared from the runway here at sfo within the week. live this san francisco near sfo, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you, alex. the ntsb has scheduled a news conference at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. we'll bring you live coverage right here on ktvu. the parents of the children aboard flight 214 including the grieving parents of the two teenagers killed are now here in the bay area. >> easy, now. >> they arrived last night and the parents were shuttled to the crowne plaza hotel in burlingame where the children are staying. the parents of the two girls killed met with the san mateo

county coroner who gave them a briefing on the cause of death. the coroner is expected to release autopsy results in about three weeks. a san francisco man was sitting in the emergency exit row when the asiana jet crash- landed at sfo. 35-year-old ben leavey was returning from a business trip in korea. he was one of the last passengers to get off the plane. he took several pictures from his phone. he said he felt the back of the plane hit the ground hard. despite being hurt, he helped. okay, we're gonna be fine. get out, get out, quick, quick. leave everything behind. >> leavey said he got a yellow ribbon from a firefighter during triage and will continue to wear it in honor of the two victims killed. south korea's president has issued a statement saying he's concerned about how the crash reflects on the country.

the ceo of asiana airlines has apologized for the crash, not just the passengers and their families but to all of south korea. asiana airlines is based in south korea. on the u.s. house floor, a couple of hours ago, nancy pelosi had records of praise for the crew of asiana flight 214. >> for now, i want not another day to go by before commending the crew, they performed so heroically. the crew was so magnificent and a reminder to us that the first responsibility of the crew is safety. >> she made special mention of the lead flight attendant who remained on the plane until everyone else was off. she also expressed condolences for the two people who died and said there would be more observances by tomorrow when more house members are back in washington. >> many people injured in the plane crash remain at bay area hospitals. just an hour ago, san francisco general updated the numbers.

12 patients remain at that hospital out of 62 that initially checked in. five are in critical condition. five remain at stanford hospital out of 55 sent there. one person there is listed as critical. lucile packard's hospital has dischaurled all of its -- discharged all of its patients from the flight 214. our coverage continues at ktvu.com. that's where you can hear first- hand accounts of emergency responders, unedited video of the crash flight as well as more pictures. at this hour, people are starting to return to their homes after a massive and deadly apartment fire in redwood city. ktvu's sal castanedo is live to explain why residents are only being allowed in for a short time. good afternoon, sal. >> reporter: goofn, tori. there is a lot of frustration here as residents try to get some of their stuff back. more than a hundred people are without a permanent place to live. today residents got a first look at what was left.

redwood city police and firefighters escorted people back into the hallmark house apartments after the huge weekend fire. some he collected car keys -- some collected car keys, passports. one even walked out with a flat- screen tv. >> we weren't burned too much. we weren't burned at all but a lot of water damage because they pumped water for about 12 hours constantly. >> reporter: one man was killed. his body was found in an apartment that was baddy laged. 2 -- badly damaged. firefighters from all over san mateo county responded. three separate minor to moderate injuries fighting the fire. nearly 100 were displaced. today, they came to salvage what they could in the short amount of time allowed it go back in. >> seven years of my life and my children's life is gone. they are giving us ten minutes to get our stuff out. >> reporter: she says even worse is she may not be able to find a new place to live in the

long shoreman are protesting at the port of oakland. workers gathered around 7:30 at the international terminal and were blocking trucks from arriving and ships from unloading. the dispute, over jurisdiction and the port's juggling of lease agreements. >> you cannot move agreements

around. you cannot sell a lease out and expect the work force is gonna change. ilwu, the international long shore warehouse union has jurisdiction on these docks and we're not going anywhere. >> he says the port will be addressing the issue in a meeting on thursday. a representative for the other group of workers declined to comment this morning. new at noon, the home of the san jose sharks officially unveiled its new name previously known as the hp pavilion. it's called the s.a.p. senior. janine de la vega has more. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. well, they gave away these inflatable tubes and everybody was just clapping them together making a lot of noise inside the new -- inside the new center. yellow will be a color that you will see a lot of. it's the company color. you can see the name on the

[ cheers ] >> reporter: a crowd of thousands of sap employees inside cheered as chuck reed cut the ribbon inside. alongside him were executives from sap and executives of the sharks. sap signed a naming rights deal with the city that's worth more than $8 million. sap's co-founder is the majority owner of the san jose sharks. sap executives say they plan on giving fans a new digital experience with their mobile devices when they come to games and events. >> en when they arrive -- when they arrive at the stadium, the team will know who they are. as they check in, they will know where they are seated. are they a season ticket holder? have they been loyal to the sharks? is it their birthday? is there a special offer we can

stocks are up for the fourth session in a row as investors said companies will be able to surpass ther rather low bar that's been set for the currently quart terly season. the dow up 90. the nasdaq is also up 22 and s&p up 12. first lady michelle obama hosted the second annual kids' state dinner luncheon. 54 kids earned a trip to the white house by winning a nationwide contest for healthy and inexpensive recipes. among the winners, 12-year-old rose scott from menlo park. her winning recipe was pork and tofu let just -- lettuce cups.

mrs. obama and the winners and the families got to feast on many of the winning recipes at the state dinner. napa's bottle rock music festival and organizers are facing another lawsuit. the company responsible for the portable toilets hand washing stations and fencing are suing. they have set to be paid. this was the largest event in napa history that was held in may. organizers of the outside lands festival are looking for people to work at their event. this is the fifth year. it runs from august 9th to the 11th in golden gate park. work remembers needed in three categories. people to set up and tear down the venue, beverage sales and security. there will be a job fair at the county fair building in the park this saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. people who live in the richmond
